Hikaru, a music and dance ensemble from Japan, will visit Logan County next month as part of Arts Midwest World Fest. Hikaru will bring the sounds of folk and traditional Japanese music to school workshops and will perform a public concert on Friday, September 13, at 7:00 PM at Bellefontaine High School. Tickets will be available at the door the night of the concert – $15.00 for adults and $5.00 for youth 17 and under.
Hikaru is led by award-winning international performer Nobuto Yamanaka, one of Japan’s premier Shamisen players. The ensemble also includes three accomplished artists: Tomoko Tekeda on the shinobue flute, Toen Hibiki on the taiko drums, and vocalist and dancer Takemi Kakizaki.
