Since 2014, The Columbus Koto Ensemble has brought a taste of Japan to our audiences through the koto, the national instrument of Japan. The koto is similar to a Western harp or dulcimer. This concert will include traditional Japanese melodies, modern koto compositions, and innovative covers of American pop songs. Our collaborative show features guest koto artist Lisa Hirai Reaves and cellist Jenny Riegler. Tickets are $10 at the door.
The Columbus Koto Ensemble is Julie A. Palmer, Jessica Entis, and Lori Fannin. These women have training from music schools in Japan as well as the United States and have the expertise to educate and entertain. The Columbus Koto Ensemble has performed at Antioch College, The Columbus Asian Festival, Summer Festival with the Japan/America Society of Kentucky, Dawes Arboretum, The Columbus Museum of Art, Lakeside Chautauqua, Ohayocon, and Midoricon.
