JASCO Japanese Language Class Winter 2019
-Advanced Japanese for Teachers-
Have you studied Japanese in school, or do you have some living experience in Japan? Come join us and keep up with your Japanese skills!
The course focuses on practicing conversation skills exploring current topics on the news and social issues, compared with American culture. Class is conducted entirely in Japanese. Advanced level of reading skills are expected, but reading assistance for kanji is provided.
This class anticipates that you are at or near CEFR Level B1-Independent User , and JLPT N2 proficiency. This means that you have (in accordance with the JLPT guidelines) the ability to understand Japanese used in everyday situations, and in a variety of circumstances to a certain degree. You are able to:
- read materials written clearly on a variety of topics, such as articles and commentaries in newspapers and magazines as well as simple critiques, and comprehend their contents.
- read written materials on general topics and follow their narratives as well as understand the intent of the writers.
- comprehend orally presented materials such as coherent conversations and news reports, spoken at nearly natural speed in everyday situations as well as in a variety of settings, and is able to follow their ideas and comprehend their contents.
- understand the relationships among the people involved and the essential points of the presented materials.

When: Mondays, January 21 - March 25, 6:00-7:20 PM (10 weekly class sessions)
