CCI Greanheart and EIL-Japan are currently searching for host families to house two high school boys from Japan coming to Central Ohio July 21-August 12, 2017.
This summer, 11 Japanese students (ages 15-18) will be coming to Columbus to practice their English and learn about American culture, and they each need a warm welcome from a host family for their 3-week stay. Students will be busy on weekdays with English classes and excursions, but evenings and weekends are free for spending time with their host families. Students have their own spending money and insurance; host families provide meals and help with transportation to and from classes. After their stay in Columbus, students will go on to spend a school year elsewhere in the US, but host families could also opt to keep their student for the school year if interested.
This program is coordinated by CCI Greenheart (www.cci-exchange.com) and EIL-Japan (www.eiljapan.org). Classes will be held in Linworth (near 315 and 161), but host families are welcomed from anywhere in Central Ohio as long as they feel comfortable taking the student to and from classes. At least one host parent must be 25 years of age or older. The family needs to be able and willing to speak English with the student – Japanese language ability is not required.
Interested families must fill out an application online and do a background check. If your application is accepted, then this will be followed by host family interview with everyone living in the room, as well as a check of two references (per US Department of State regulations).
Application deadline is June 1.
