"KIMONO WORKSHOP" feat. The Columbus Kimono Project

Looking for something fun to do this long weekend? Then, join us this Saturday for JASCO's November Culture Club as we invite the Columbus Kimono Project for a Kimono Workshop! Elizabeth and Katherine from the group will discuss the history and seasonality aspects of kimono, and demonstrate how to properly wear kimono. We are also collaborating with Milestone Memories Photography for a kimono photo booth! Come learn about the traditional garment of Japan, dress up in a kimono and have your pictures taken by a professional photographer! If you have your own kimono, feel free to bring them to discuss and share.


When: Sat. NOV 12th from 1:30pm to 3pm

Where: Networking Room (1st Floor) 565 Metro Place South, Dublin, OH 43017 map

Cost: Free for JASCO members/students and $10 for Non-members.

11月のカルチャークラブは、Columbus Kimono Projectの皆さまをご招待して着物ワークショップを開催します。Columbus Kimono Projectは、日本の伝統文化である着物などを取り上げて教育的な機会を作っている地元のグループです。メンバーの方により、着付け実演や着物の持つ季節的な意味合いの説明などがあります。ご自分の着物を持参いただいても良いですし、手ぶらでご参加いただいても大丈夫です。着物の上手な着方や着物の知識を学ぶいい機会です。Milestone Memories Photographyのプロカメラマンによる写真撮影サービスがあります(撮影した写真データは後日提供)。

日時: 11月12日(土) 1:30pm 〜 3pm

Guest: The Columbus Kimono Project

The Columbus Kimono Project is a local group dedicated to promote educational opportunities on topics such as Kimono and various aspects of the traditional Japanese culture. Elizabeth and Katherine started the group in 2010. Since then, they have worked with local conventions, The Columbus Arts council, OSU's Japanese Student Organization, The Japan-America Society of Central Ohio, Asian American Community Services, Worthington Historical Society as well as the Northwest Ohio Kimono Society. They share a passion for keeping the traditional garment of Japan alive by not only wearing kimono but educating the public about the versatility of this treasured art form. Check out their Facebook page by clicking here
